“With this hand I will lift your sorrows.
Your cup will never be empty, for I will
be your wine. With this candle, I will light
your way into darkness. With this ring, I
ask you to be mine.”- Victor Van DortThis past week with our friends and family surrounding us Jeremy and I celebrated our engagement. We decided that a Tim Burton themed costume party was the perfect way to celebrate the coming year and our favorite holiday! We normally try to go all out with our costumes, but we wanted to do something extra special for the party. Some of my best memories are movie nights watching The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride, so naturally our costume choice was pretty easy. I chose to be Emily and Jeremy was Victor. Now that the easy part of choosing was done the costuming began. This is where our friend Daniel comes in, not only did he create the perfect look with both our make-ups, but he created the most beautiful dress that far surpassed anything I could ever dream of. Every detail to the beading and hand stitching were perfect and he even stained it with tea to get an aged look to the fabric. He overlaid the corset with lace and dyed the edges to resemble Emily’s dress. The veil included the same detailed hand stitching. I created my headdress with fake florals and a spray paint and Daniel attached it to the veil. I did the same to create my bouquet. The finally touches were a bright blue wig and airbrushed hose from Etsy shop Beadborg. I honestly don’t know how I will ever out do this one. It was by far my favorite costume and I want ever day to be Halloween just so I get a chance to wear it!
Jeremy created his costume by using pieces from his own closet and a few purchases from Goodwill. He tightened the pants to get that slender look of Victors, created a larger knot for the tie, and dirtied the suit up a bit to give it that fallen through the earth look. Of course the make-up is what brings it all together! After a fun photo shoot amidst our Halloween graveyard it was off to the party! Our friend’s and family did not disappoint! Not only did everyone bring their “A” game when it came to costumes, but every detail from the signage to the florals was absolutely perfect! I could not have wished for a better party nor a better groom to be by my side. He is literally my better half and is always down for whatever crazy ideas pop into my head. I can’t wait to see what this next year brings and hope everyone has a wonderfully spooky Halloween! ” Upon meeting you I felt I should be with you always”- VictorPhotography: Stephanie Stein Photography | Dress, Veil, Make-up: Daniel Velasco | Wig: Amazon | Hose: Beadborg
