Recently this past March my partner in everything and college sweetheart proposed at the most magical place on earth! Being that we’ve been together for close to 11 years, most would say it’s about time, but it happened when it happened and I wouldn’t change a thing. Also being together as long as we have I have had plenty of time to daydream about the details. Everyone knows how much I love retro and vintage inspired pretty much everything. I would think that fact would be pretty obvious, owning a vintage inspired boutique. So when the time came to take engagement photos my mind was already swimming with ideas. About two months ago we shot at The Alley for our retro summer Dandy shoot. We had such a great time shooting and the pictures looked great with the retro backdrop. I just thought what a perfect place for our engagement shoot! Being the best sport in the world, my man went along with my craziness and looked damn good doing it! Of course just shooting there wouldn’t be enough, I wanted to look like I just walked off the set of Dazed and Confused, so searching for the perfect ensemble was my next mission. I found a lot of the pieces on Etsy in vintage shops, especially Jeremy’s clothes and most of mine. Even though those awesome overalls are from Mod Cloth and I am on the search to find some similar for the store.
The Alley staff was amazing. They let us run around all over the place and even bowl a few rounds. The pictures wouldn’t be near as cool if we didn’t have that great location. Adding one of Pierre’s classic cars was just the retro cherry on top of this shoot and made for some great pictures that I will always love looking back at. The whole process was fun even though I know engagement pictures can be awkward as hell to shoot. As long as someone makes you giggle through the awkwardness and you have a retro car to drive away in everything will be alright, alright, alright….I’m sorry I couldn’t resist.
