Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. Now for those of you who know me, the creepier and scarier the better! I love everything from decorating my house, to watching 30 days of scary movies on the Syfy channel, and trying to find the creepiest costume I can! However, this year I decided to tone down the inside decorations and focus more on the outdoor decor and my costume! So take a look at the decorations below and let me know what you think!
Just got finished with a great photo shoot for the new bridal pieces, which will be up on the website soon! The first bridal piece is perfect for the “Bohemian Bride”. Its made with vintage millinery velvet and chiffon flowers and light pink velvet leaves. The piece can wrap around the front of your forehead or be worn on top of the head.
Fall in Charleston can be, at times, a very sticky experience, so imagine my surprise this morning when I walk out my door and feel that cool morning breeze! Now I am not saying we won’t experience some more hot days, but if days like this keep happening, I might really start believing fall is on its way! In honor of my first breezy day since I have been back from vacation take a look at some of my favorite things that are really putting me in the mood for pumpkin spiced lattes and Halloween decorations!
Recently, I was in my home state of Arkansas, for some much needed rest, a great tailgate with friends and family, and throwing one of my very best friends an engagement party! It was by far one of the best and most hectic weeks I have had in a while but I think we were able to pull off one great weekend thanks to lots of help from some great friends and of course my great parents! Sometime soon I am going to incorporate event planning into Dandy Boutique but at the moment I get to hone my skills by planning great parties for friends and family, take a look at some of the pictures below and let me know what you think!
Recently, I have been reorganizing my studio and trying to get it into some type of working, functional order, easier said then done. Once you get one thing finished you realize there are about 50 other things left to do, sometimes it does seem endless, but all you can do is move forward and keep going! One thing that does bring me joy and makes the task at hand seem more bearable is surrounding your self with your favorite things. These are some of the items in my studio that really make it feel like my space.
This week is the first week I have started the process of making my “small little business that could”, a full time occupation! I have been given the opportunity to work full time on something I love to do, which in itself is more than I could ask for! With the support of my family and friends I hope to be doing this for a very long time! Special thank you to my mama Christie McGetrick and my father Patrick McGetrick without them I would not be where or who I am today!

During our trip to California, me and my sister took a little day trip to Santa Monica. We had so much fun. We had a delicious brunch at Barney’s Beanery, we took in the unique surroundings, and the even more unique people. It was so much fun relaxing with the oceans cool breezes (unlike our stifling heat in Charleston) and eating churros on the pier. I know the pier is a huge tourist spot, but I don’t care I love it, I just love all the different people. Me and my sister had one of the best days ever here! We even tried to ride the Ferris wheel, but alas it broke down before we could!
A few weeks back my sister and I took a trip to Los Angeles to see my mother get honored with a fellowship award for city planning. It was great to be back in the city and visit some of my favorite areas from my short stint working in the city. We took a trip to Santa Monica, drove out to “Old Town” Pasadena, and had a great dinner in “China Town”. It was somewhat surreal going from Charleston, SC to Los Angeles, CA, one side of the country to the other in one day, fantastic! All and all it was a great trip and I was so excited to be back in the city and see my mother get honored for something she has worked her whole career for.
