Summer seems to be on it’s way out, not necessarily in temperature, but with the kids going back to school and Dandy switching over to fall there definitely is a change in the air (metaphorically speaking). Change is a good thing, it keeps us on our toes, challenges us to do things differently, and ultimately allows us to grow. Before we completely say goodbye to summer though, I was able to squeeze in one more sun kissed collaboration with a great group of women, who have all embraced a significant change recently. The last look from our week through the decades is none other than then 90’s! I know what you’re thinking the 90’s wasn’t that long ago, it’s okay I try to tell myself that all the time, but it was actually almost 26 years ago! Wow! So we decided to mix a little grunge with fun feminine flair. Some crazy hair, ripped tights, and dark make-up create this look to a t!Demi explains is dark take on a grungy decade! “When thinking of the 90’s I think of two words; Cult Classics!
This was giving me all types of “Blair Witch” project realness, honey! To get the look, try a glossed smokey eye, heavy liner and charcoal lined lips. Now, if this is a bit too much for you, don’t worry! Find your comfort in a range of browns, pinks and taupes for a “neutral” face; not to be mistaken for a natural face. The 90’s were also dramatic, in an “I don’t care” kinda way. So make it messy! Make it fun! Make it Grunge!”
Kalena worked her magic and styled twisty top-knots reminiscent of Scary Spice and Gwen Stefani with a touch of Courtney Love. Sectioned hair ear to ear and created 4, 3″ x 3″ square sections then twisted until satisfied. Pinned and let the lived in texture do the rest. End result Molly looks fierce and ready for anything the 90’s can throw at her. Including angst, dark lipstick, and ripped tights!Photography by Libby Williams Photography | Hair by Kalena of Stella Nova West Ashley | Make-up by Demi Washington | Model: Molly Rhyne
What’s more 80’s then distressed denim, big hair, and blue eyeliner? The 5th look in our week through the decades takes us back to everything tubular and Paige perfectly embodies Jeanie Bueller like nobodies business. For those of you that are a little young for that reference, that would be Jennifer Grey as Ferris Bueller’s sister, in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a classic! [Read more…]
