Hi, everyone! Let me start by introducing myself: My name is Kristen, but everybody calls me KiKi. I manage a style blog called Cats in My Closet and am launching a fashion magazine called Monachopsis in the fall. I also moonlight as a fashion stylist and, on occasion, have done some freelance writing, most notably for Charleston City Paper and Charleston Grit. Oh yeah, and I wear a lot of wigs.
I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Holly & Dandy Boutique on several posts for my fashion website, and when she reached out to me about becoming a regular contributor for the Dandy blog, I absolutely leapt at the opportunity! On my way to the store to pick up outfits for my first post (a fairly quick walk from my office), I came to the realization that it’s incredulously hot outside. Like, nearly 100 degrees hot. When did that happen?!
Now I don’t know about the rest of you, but once the temperature creeps in the 90s, my main priority is trying to figure out how to wear as little clothing as possible while also avoiding sunburn. It’s all about ease and, most importantly, comfort, so I’ve showcased three effortless outfits below that are ideal for the steamy summer months.

Recently I have connected with some amazing ladies to revitalize the Dandy Blog. I have always wanted to create a fun, enthusiastic, and creative space to talk about anything from baking to fashion to whatever seems to pop into our heads. Being stretched a little thin I thought about how we could do this and keep the posts fun with fresh content on a weekly basis. So I reached out to some talented friends of mine that have helped us in the past with everything from photography to collaborations, and illustrations. This new adventure is a great way to bring together like-minded creatives that have so much spunk, personality, and style. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us! So without further adieu I would like you to meet the new members of the Dandy Blogging team!

When she’s not glued to a computer screen, she can be found chatting with the street cats that run rampant in downtown Charleston (she’s fluent in feline, you know.) [Read more…]
As Dandy’s third anniversary has come and gone it has made me do a little reflecting over the past few years and all the adventures I have had along the way. I decided to go back to one of the first places I ever did a photo shoot, Colonial Lake. Nervous and having no idea what I was doing, I awkwardly posed for photos and felt completely lacking in confidence. Now a days it is still not my [Read more…]

I don’t think you have to look too far back to realize that Halloween is my favorite time of year! The cooler weather, the decorations, the costumes, and all the fun parties make it the most whimsical time of year! We decorate the store to the nines, make our “Autumn To-Do List,” and of course try and create the perfect Halloween costume. The past few years I have been using pieces from my favorite vintage thrift shops and also pieces from Dandy to create fun unique looks. This year a few friends got together and we pulled fun pieces from Dandy and played dress-up the best possible way…..Halloween style! [Read more…]
