Ever fan girl over Instagram accounts? Let’s be honest, who hasn’t? Those Instagram accounts all have one thing in common: a perfectly curated colored theme. Think of your Instagram as your own art gallery, there is a cohesiveness to all your images and usually, that revolves around a color. A lot of users follow a color theme or a mood to tie all their images together. In this post, I’ll show you how to get the ball rolling using only VSCO filters (which is an app every IG user needs to have on their phone).
I’m a very fickle Instagrammer. I have gone through three different color themes: moody & blue, vibrant pink, and now I’m doing a clean, white with burst of pastel pink & yellow. Follow me @joanne.nhi to get a visual of what I’m talking about.
Here’s what my feed looked like through my “blue” period:
I edit about 80% of my photos through VSCO and I have a present for you all! A little preset I have created/used when I went through my blue theme. Now, this isn’t a one click preset. Just like Lightroom, you have to tweak the picture to make it look good. In this set, I didn’t tweak anything, I just popped in that preset and voila just so you have an idea of what it looks like.
In order to achieve this look, just adjust your settings in VSCO to this:
You can see how I had an almost faded, bleached look to my posts before. This was during the winter time, so I wanted to be a little extra and match my feed to the season.
TIPS: It helps extremely if you photograph blue in your photos. This preset isn’t magic; it won’t automatically make your subjects blue. It enhances the blue so take photos of blue and pop in the preset! I hope this helps you all get started on curated a color theme for your Instagram account! I would love to see what you all create with it. #DandyVSCO so I can see what you’ve created! Until next time!
