You ever just feel like dressing up and going somewhere fancy to shake yourself out of a funk? Because SAME. It’s been a particularly exhausting month with work piling up right before the holidays, and I feel like everything is coming at me all at once. I struggle with depression and anxiety, so I’ve learned over the years that it’s important for me to take ample time for self-care and socializing in order to keep my head on straight.
The Dewberry is a bougie hotel whose bar has been on my list to try for quite some time, so I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone by shooting a blog post here while sipping on a daiquiri, sharing a cheese plate (and by share, I mean I ate the whole thing…why am I like this?), and having some girl time with my friend/photographer/fellow animal lover Taylor. (Speaking of animals, she got a new puppy named Petey and you should totally follow his Instagram. You’re welcome, world.) Needless to say, the experience was exactly what I needed to reinstate balance in my week.

The style of this dress reminds me of a 1940s secretary. I adore the quirky telephone print (the words read “hello” and “goodbye”) and how well the black beret completes the look. As I mentioned in a previous post, marigold is THE “it” color for fall, so the fact that this dress is in a similar hue was a definite plus. Overall, the outfit meshed well with the mid-century decor (and the drinks were delicious), so 10/10 would come again.
For those who have been to The Dewberry lounge before, what drinks would you recommend I try next time? Or in general, where are some of your favorite places to grab a cocktail downtown after work? I’m trying to broaden my beverage horizons and make better use of happy hour. Leave me your suggestions in the comments!
